There are about 5,000 different
species of ladybugs in the world.
These much loved critters are also known as lady beetles or ladybird beetles. They come in many
different colors and patterns, but the most familiar in North America is the
seven-spotted ladybug, with its shiny, red-and-black body.
In many cultures,
ladybugs are considered good luck...
You will need:
Cotton/chenille yarn white color
Cotton/chenille yarn black color
Cotton/chenille yarn Red color
Crochet hook 3.5mm
For chenille yarn - 4mm hook
Needle for sewing
Fiberfill

Stitch guide:
chain (ch): Yarn over and pull through loop.
Single crochet (sc): Insert hook in stitch. Yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and draw through 2 loops.
Slip stitch (slst): Insert hook in stitch yarn over and pull through 2 loops.
Single crochet increase (inc): 2 single crochet in the same stitch follow the instructions.
Single crochet decrease (dec): insert hook in front loop of the next 2 stitches. Yarn over draw through 2 loops.
Doll size: 9.5 inch (24 cm)

Start with the legs then continue with the body, head and wing.
-This pattern is worked in a continuous spiral without closing off each round. Please mark the first stitch of each round and move the marker up as you work.

Legs (make 2):
With white color
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring (MR)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc across (12)
Rnd 3: (sc in next 1 stitches, inc) repeat 6 times (18)
Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 stitches, inc) repeat 6 times, change to black color on the last stitch (24)
Rnd 5: 24 sc blo (24)
Rnd 6-7: 24 sc, repeat for 2 rounds, (24)
Rnd 8: sc in the next 6 stitches, (dec) repeat 6 times, sc in the next 6 stitches (18)
Rnd 9: 18 sc (18)
Rnd 10: (sc in next 1 stitches, dec) repeat 6 times, change to white color on the last stitch (12)

Rnd 12: sc in the next 3 stitches, (dec) repeat 3 times, sc in the next 3 stitches (9)

Fiberfill the legs.
Don't fasten off and cut the yarn after finishing the second leg , squeeze the leg and close it with 4 sc

Then continue with the other leg, squeeze and close the leg with 4 sc
Don't cut the yarn, continue crocheting in a spiral with black yarn, starting the body
Body and Head:
Rnd 1: ch 1, sc flo in the next 4 stitches, sc in the next 3 stitches (in the ch3 from the previous round), sc flo in the next 4 stitches, continue to the other side of the legs, sc blo (the other side of the sc) in the next 4 stitches, sc in the next 3 stitches (in the ch3 from the previous round), sc blo in the next 4 stitches (22)
Rnd 2-11: 22 sc, repeat for 10 rounds (22)
Rnd 12: (sc in next 9 stitches, dec) repeat 2 times (20)
Rnd 13: (sc in next 3 stitches, dec) repeat 4 times (16)
Rnd 14: (sc in next 2 stitches, dec) repeat 4 times (12)
Rnd 15: (sc in next 1 stitch, dec) repeat 4 times, change to white color on the last stitch (8)
Continue with the head, and stuff the body firmly with fiberfill while crocheting
Rnd 16: 2 sc in each sc across (16)
Rnd 17: (sc in next 1 stitches, inc) repeat 8 times (24)
Rnd 18: (sc in next 3 stitches, inc) repeat 6 times (30)
Rnd 19: (sc in next 4 stitches, inc) repeat 6 times (36)

Rnd 22-28: 48 sc, repeat for 7 rounds, change to red color on the last stitch of round 27 (48)

* Pause crocheting the head and crochet the eye lead
Eye Lead - 6 sc in MR, don't close the MR
Tighten the Eye lead around the safety eyes :
Assemble the safety eyes between round 24-25, while leaving 6 stitches between the eyes
Stuff the head firmly with fiberfill while crocheting
Continue crocheting the head
Rnd 31: (sc in next 4 stitches, dec) repeat 6 times (30)
For extra stability you can add wire to the head (optional):
Rnd 32: (sc in next 3 stitches, dec) repeat 6 times (24)
Rnd 33: (sc in next 2 stitches, dec) repeat 6 times (18)
Rnd 34: (sc in next 1 stitches, dec) repeat 6 times (12)
Fasten off, close the head with sewing
Wings (make 2):
With Red color
Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc across (12)
Rnd 3: 12 sc (12)
Rnd 4: (sc in next 1 stitches, inc) repeat 6 times (18)
Rnd 5: 18 sc (18)

Assemble the wings to the body:
Sew the top of the wings together
Dots (make 15):
With Black color
You can make as many as you want, I used 15, 3 in each wing and 9 in the head
the dots are just 6 sc in MR close with sl st and leave yarn for sewing
Sew 9 dots to the head
Sew the dots to the wings only to the top layer of the wing
Tentacles (make 2):
With black color
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring (MR)
Rnd 2: (sc in next 1 stitches, inc) repeat 3 times (9)
Rnd 3: 9 sc (9)
Rnd 4: (sc in next 1 stitches, dec) repeat 3 times (6)
Rnd 5-7: 6 sc, repeat for 3 rounds (6)
Fasten off leaving yarn for sewing.
Assemble the ears to the head:
Arms (make 2):
With white color
Rnd 1: 6 sc in magic ring (MR)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc across (12)

Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 stitches, dec) repeat 3 times (9)
Rnd 5: 9 sc, change to black color (9)

Rnd 9-12: 8 sc, repeat for 4 rounds (8)
Fasten off leaving yarn for sewing, fiberfill the hand only do not fiberfill the arms.
Assemble the arms to the body, with a little angle towards the body .
Embroider the eyebrows and the nose and the mouth:
Shoe dots (make 2):
With Red color
6 sc in MR, sl st to fasten leave yarn for sewing to the shoes
